The membership process

OMX Nordic Exchange offers its members trading in the most liquid products on the Nordic market. Nordic exchange membership offers not only the quality stamp of being an Exchange member, it also gives the right to trade equity products in all three Nordic markets, through the Stockholm, Helsinki and Copenhagen exchanges. A separate derivatives membership is also available that allows access to all Nordic derivatives markets, including the Norwegian market.

All markets are accessible through a single access point for both cash and derivatives membership. Furthermore no additional technical setup is required if a member wants to apply for the Baltic exchanges, or the Oslo and Reykjavik Stock Exchanges. Nordic Exchange membership gives access to the cash markets at the Copenhagen, Helsinki and Stockholm exchanges at exceptional value, and the trading process is made easy with the common trading platform, SAXESS. In addition, the same set of rules applies for all markets enabling members to handle all the markets with reduced administration resources. Being employed by a Nordic Exchange member and having been authorized to trade in equities on one market, traders are also allowed to trade equities on the other markets.

Membership information

Custodian banks

Clearing and settlement possibilities can be arranged through the member holding a membership of the local CSD or by the member having an agreement with a custodian bank. All major Nordic banks offer clearing and settlement services on the Nordic markets. For further information on clearing and settlement and Nordic custodian banks, please contact the Nordic Exchange.

Authorization of traders and back-office personnel

The traders and back-office personnel who are granted direct access to the trading or back-office systems of the Nordic Exchange must have attended education arranged by the Exchange’s Financial Training team. Traders who will trade on the Nordic Exchange cash market must be authorized to trade in the trading system SAXESS. For traders trading the derivatives market, authorization in the trading system CLICK is a requirement. Back-office personnel should be authorized to use the back-office system SECUR. For traders employed by a firm trading from offices located in Sweden, a SwedSec license is required.
